Ms. Dippel's Second Grade Class

Welcome!

Welcome to our class webpage!
We will have a great school year in 2005-2006!

Our class web site is a great way to keep students excited about a subject, remind them of assignments that are due, and provide them with valuable online resources. It is also a great way for parents and relatives to see a part of their special student's school life. The website will contain information that makes the curriculum interesting and fun, such as brain teasers or polls for students to graph in math class. Of course, it will include plenty of links so students can safely explore a wealth of ideas on the web.

Mission Statement

My mission as a teacher is to teach my students how to find real solutions to the challenges they face, to instill in my students a desire to do their personal best in everything they do, and to become life-long learners. I will accomplish this by making learning meaningful yet fun. I will work with each student to improve their self-esteem and confidence by treating them with compassion, respect, and fairness. By staying with this mission, I will create a safe and caring environment that will nurture in students a positive attitude where they will want to achieve their personal best. By being constantly aware of the mission I have set, I will teach my students more than just subject areas. Through our interactions, I will teach them respect, fairness, compassion, and belief in themselves.

The use of technology is a perfect approach for reaching students given the increasing diversity I see each year in my classroom. Technology gives me a wider range of teaching tools to meet the needs of the ever-changing make-up of my class. The use of technology in the classroom offers a means for all of my students to succeed without feeling the pressure of what other students are doing. It provides the individualization of lessons and allows students to progress on their work at a pace that is appropriate for them. Technology allows students to explore and reach their potential without damaging their self-esteem. I will use technology as a part of my daily curriculum instead of just an occasional teaching tool.
